Week 30: Week in review
1. Get out of the church!!
Hello hello hello! Wow so much happens every single day here and I don't even know where to start so I guess I'll just make a list of a few miracles and cool things this week.
1. The prophet came to Thailand!! Wow this was such a cool opportunity! President Russell M Nelson and Elder Jeffery R Holland and their wives came and spoke to the largest gathering of saints in Thailand ever (and I got to be a part of this historical event - cool). It was such a special experience to be there and hear what they said. They talked a lot about the temple coming to Thailand and about the Savior! It was cool because all of the missionaries from Thailand came and I got to see all of my old companions and other friends, as well as members from Chiang Mai because people came from the entire country!! And some investigators came which was a cool experience for them.
2. We had some people who wanted to get baptized a few months ago who dropped off the face of the planet and we decided to try reaching out to them one more time this weekend. Both of them responded and one even came to church yesterday! She said "thank you for giving me this opportunity." Miracles!!
3. Sister Cabangil has this beautiful thick hair that she lets me do every day and it is a lot of fun. Reminds me of being home and doing my little sisters' hair before church on Sunday!
4. Went on a switch off with our Sister Training Leaders in Asoke this week and that is always fun. Sister Roberts and I used a ladder to climb on to someone's roof to see if she was still alive because she was old, sick, and not answering phone calls and everyone thought she was dead. Fun times!!
5. Last Tuesday we were at church and it was rainy out. We looked out and saw a HUGE water moniter! We got a broom and got it out of the church parking lot. It was pretty funny.
6. We had zone conference last Monday and learned a lot about how to be better missionaries!! I love zone conferences, our awesome mission President and his wife, and our awesome assistants to the President who give such awesome trainings.
7. A recent convert from Chonburi (a few hours away) was in town visiting family for สงกรานต์ (songkran) and he wanted us to come teach them because none of them are members. It was a cool lesson and they all came to church the next Sunday! It is cool to see how this one member, คิว (q) is helping so many others learn about Jesus Christ. We had a bunch of referrals this week! I love it.
Anyways, other than that it has been a pretty normal week full of teaching and inviting others to come unto Christ! Missionary work is hard but when I have hard days I find strength in the scriptures and through praying to my loving Heavenly Father. It is hard not speaking perfect Thai and not knowing how to help everyone and seeing others choose not to accept our message, but I there are so many joys that come from being a missionary. I have learned so much about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, about prayer, about repentance and forgiveness, about agency and desires, and so much more. I am a different, better person! And you can become a better, happier person too as you apply the gospel of Jesus Christ to your life. Choose Jesus Christ and choose happiness! Love you all!!
