Week 27: transfers...will I stay or will I go ft. บางนา IS AMAZING
Hello sorry my email didn't send last week! I don't know what happened there but you should have 2 emails from me this week...lucky you!
As for transfers, Sister Ballif will be going to เชียงใหม่ (Chiang Mai, where I served before Bangna) and I will be staying here in บสงนา (Bangna) and Sister Cabangil will be my new companion! She is my น้อง (nong) from the MTC which means she is only 1 transfer behind me. She just finished her training and I am only on my 4th transfer and I am going to be senior companion which means I am supposed to the one who knows how to be a missionary but I feel like I know nothing! It is going to be a really humbling transfer and I am grateful for that because I am going to have the chance to learn to rely on the Lord 100% because I have NO IDEA what I am doing. But I know this is going to be a great transfer because, as Thomas S Monson loved to say, whom the Lord the Lord qualifies. Stay tuned folks!! And PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!! I need your prayers more than ever.
Okay everyone buckle UP because these last 10 days been full of miracles and difficulties and so many awesome people and I don't know where to begin or how much I will be able to write. I wish I could call you instead of emailing because emailing is hard but I will do my best to jam 10 days into 1 email....
Last Monday we had a big dinner with a bunch of recent converts and one of our investigators วี (wii) who is an investigator, a referral from our recent convert อิ๋ว. It was fun eating with all of them and seeing them all helping each other live their beliefs and just being friends. Then they all helped us teach วี and it was a great lesson! I love our members because they help us as missionaries so much by teaching with us and by inviting their friends to meet with the missionaries!
On Tuesday we had interviews with President Johnson so we went to อโศก (Asoke, the heart of Bangkok) where our mission office is. Interviews were at 1:30 but we got there 30 minutes early so we were interviewed to talk about the upcoming temple in Thailand so if you want to hear some really bad Thai, there is is a video with me talking about the temple on Facebook! Then President and Johnson came in and we got to with them a happy anniversary! Then President starting interviewing the other missionaries and Sister Ballif and I went and talked with Sister Johnson for around 2 to 3 hours while everyone else interviewed and it was AMAZING to have the chance to talk with her! She is so busy and it was such a blessing that she took time out of her day to talk with us and tell some great stories and give us advice. I LOVE HER!! Then I got to interview with President which I always look forward to. I was struggling a little and I was doubting myself a lot but President Johnson gave me some great advice and helped me overcome what I was struggling with. He also gave me priesthood blessing which helped me a lot. I LOVE MY PRIESTHOOD LEADERS!! If you are ever struggling with anything, ANYTHING, PLEASE go talk with your priesthood leader, whether he be a mission president or bishop or stake president. They are there to help you with your problems! I am so grateful for my bishops, mission president, branch presidents, etc. Who have helped me throughout my life and will continue to do so in the future. Anyways, moral of the story: the Johnson's are the BEST!!
On the BTS ride back to บางนา I started talking with this guy named โกมล and I invited him to learn more about Jesus Christ. He agreed and we set up an appointment with him for a few days later. So we met up with him and it was the BEST LESSON EVER!! We taught him about the Restoration and he said he understood so well. He wants to know these things are true for himself. We taught him again at the church with a member and it was another awesome lesson! The spirit has been so strong in our lessons with him! I am so excited to see how he progresses.
Another investigator we have is named Jiao. I met him last transfer day at the visa office in Asoke when he and a bunch of other Chinese people came to take a picture with the missionaries. It turned out he lived in my area so we met up with him and some other friends of his once or twice but it was really hard for us to understand him when he talked because he speaks very little English and Thai so we didn't spend a lot of time with him, but he came to church for a few weeks in a row and he said he felt enlightened (through Google translate). Anyways he went back to China for a week or so and we finally found a member who was a Chinese speaking missionary who could help us teach Jiao. The lesson was so cool and he asked so many cool questions! I mean we didn't understand most of it because it was in Chinese but he said he would read the Book of Mormon. Then the next day we asked if he read and he said he read for 3 hours!! AMAZING!! And he asked us "What do you need to pay attention to when praying?" And we taught him about the spirit and he knows the Book of Mormon is true! How cool that a native English speaker met a Chinese speaking person in Thailand but he could learn the church is true though the spirit, a universal language.
Anyways gotta go I will talk about these things on Monday love you all!
