Week 25: zone conference and I love my life!!!
7. Ancient city
Hey there friends and fam, hope that your lives are going well because mine is pretty awesome right now!! I really love being a missionary. I love the people here so much! I love the language! I love the culture! I love the food! It is way hard sometimes but I am so grateful to be here and to be a missionary.
This week we had zone conference and I learned a lot. I have this sense of urgency that I didn't have before to become better and work harder and give 100% all of the time. I want to be the best missionary I can be so I need to be doing the best things all of the time! I learned a lot of ways I can be a better missionary and I am so excited to apply them all! It was also fun to see a bunch of other missionaries and catch up with them and talk with Sister Johnson, the mission president's wife. We also got burgers and fries for lunch which was way nice.
One of our recent converts, อี๋ว, brought a friend to English class, วี, a few weeks ago and we taught her since then and she now has a baptismal date! I think it is awesome that อี๋ว brought her friend to church because she saw how the gospel changed her life and made it better and she loved her friend enough to want the same for her. I am so grateful for the awesome members here in Bangna!! I love them so much and I am grateful for the chance I have to get to know them and help them and be friends with them. I especially love all of the girls 16-25 here. They are so cute and so fun! Oh I just LOVE บางนา (Bangna) so much!
Today was Sister Janjarus' last day with us here in Thailand - we bring her to the airport tomorrow :( we will miss her so much! For her last Pday here our entire district went to this cool place called "Muangboran" which means the Ancient City and it was like a mini Thailand that we got to bike around. It was really cool! Funny story: Sister Jan and I both split our pants there. Good times. I really loved it though because we got to learn so much about the culture and history of Thailand and I LOVE that kind of stuff.
I met this lady named นุช on the way to an appointment on a สองแถว (song tau, these little truck things that are a common and cheap form of transportation here) and I talked with her and she was interested in learning more so I got her phone number and she said she would come to our relief society activity later that week. On the way back from our appointment, we took a สองแถว back to the church and we went to pay the driver and that นุช was sitting in the front seat! It was really weird. And then later that week we saw her sitting outside of 7-11...
We were on a bus one day and I was talking with this one girl and she said we could come to her house tomorrow. So we went to her house and her mom and grandma were there and they talked with us for an hour about this random group of Christian people who came and taught them to lie or something weird and crazy like that...so we got to explain that we weren't weird and crazy Christian people and we won't teach you how to lie but how to have eternal life with your families! Always a good time as a missionary.
Anyways I love you all and I love the scriptures too! I challenge you pray and think about questions you have and things you need guidance about in your life in preparation for general conference. I know that as we prepare to receive revelation we will receive it. There is real power in preparation. LOVE YOU ALL! I will send the rain video next week haha :) sorry if I didn't respond to your email I am super lazy :)))
