Week 23: wedding, new investigators, and it is starting to get HOT
Well well well another week has passed and Bangna is as awesome as ever! This week the assistants to the President challenged us to find at least one new investigator every day and we saw so many miracles in achieving this goal. One day we went inviting for 5 hours and had no success until we went to teach someone and by some miracle we saw a girl from our English class and were able to teach her and set up a new appointment with her. We have so much potential in Bangna right now! It is exciting. Here are some cool stories from the week:
-we were walking back from a members house to visit her and we saw a little 8 year old Cambodian boy and we brought him to the church and showed him it and invited him to sports night on Friday. He came and then we invited him to church on Sunday. He got to church before we did and left when we did....We got there at 10am and left at 7pm. He even came to our ward correlation meeting. We were able to teach him with one of the members in the ward who speak Cambodian. He is the cutest little kid!! He really loved church.
-another one of our investigators came to the church on Sunday at 7:30 am (church starts at 11...). But he came to sacrament and thats what matters! So our investigators love chilling at the church
- went to the wedding of a YouTube famous ward member. The bishop's daughter has a kind of famous YouTube channel and she was getting married to this guy Nate from the ward who served a mission here in Thailand and moved back for work. It was fun to check it out but we had to leave before the real party started...as we were walking out the door they said "let's get this party started" so that was kind of sad but hey free food. So check out mymatenate on YouTube and maybe you will see me in a video about the wedding haha. We also went to his house on Monday for Family Home Evening (FHE) and they got us pizza and made cookies and we played Avalon (a game that is similar to mafia) which I have played with my cousins before so that was fun.
-we had switch-offs with our sister training leaders on Wednesday! It is always fun to switch it up for a day and invite and teach in a new area (we went to Asoke). I was able to talk to a bunch of sweet people.
-one our investigators who was planning on getting baptized soon just disappeared. She moved and won't answer her phone. So please pray for Sophia!!! We are concerned about her.
In other news, it is starting to get a little got here in Thailand. Yay! I kind of miss snow and seasons though. It is always pretty warm here (although it got down to the 50s in Chiang Mai). Also shout out to my friend McKay for getting engaged this weekend! I love you and I am sad I won't be there for the wedding this August but I am so happy for you and Jacob.
In other news, I love my Savior Jesus Christ. This week I had a hard morning one day and I prayed that I would be able to feel peace. As soon as I finished that prayer I remembered that Easter is coming. It isn't a very big deal here, no one really celebrates it because they are all Buddhist here, but as soon as I remembered about Easter I felt the love of Christ enter me and I felt peace. I read a little about Jesus and read some Easter hymns and just felt such a gratitude for my Savior. I love Him and I am here in Thailand to teach people about Him!!! He is the light of my life. I read a scripture in Mosiah 16: 7-9 in the Book of Mormon and I encourage you all to read it and start thinking about what Easter is all about. It is a season of hope!! I have really been trying to think of what Jesus would do if he were here and it has helped me become a better missionary. Anyways I hope you all have a great week and I love you all! Sorry I haven't answered any emails today!
Love,
Sister Lahti
