Week 18: Hard but good

Image
2. Random Cambodian village in the middle of the city Hello, great week in  บางนา, as usual.  Fun stuff from this week... -went to a trampoline park today which was fun  -I love Thailand because we eat so much fruit! One day this week, I ate pineapple, apple, coconut, jackfruit, papaya, rose apple, dragon fruit, banana...and that was one day! I love fruit  -Everyone has NY Yankees hats here. It is weird but I like seeing a little piece of home every day  - so many miracles this week! We had people wave us across the street and we taught them, investigators came to church for the first time, etc. God is so good! This week was hard sometimes. We had two people supposed to be baptized yesterday but long story short, they didn't and they are not really talking with us any more. Lots of people didn't answer the phone and stopped talking with us but nothing can make me that discouraged because I am a representative of JESUS CHRIST a...

SO BUSY. I love it! -met a crazy drunk white guy this week who was walking in the streets with a beer bottle and he told us all about how Mormons were crazy. Hmmm. I think we were more credible but it was an interesting encounter.  We have a new prophet! As many of you know, President Monson recently passed away. Th...

Week 16: บางนา

2. Goodbye Chiang Mai!! Hello! So last Wednesday night I left Chiang Mai to go to Bangkok, my new area. A bunch of members from the ward came and said goodbye to us as we got on the bus and it was sad. It is amazing how much you can grow to love people and a place in just 6 weeks! I am grateful for my time in Chiang Mai and I want to go back!  So we got on the bus and headed to the mission home in Bangkok where I said goodbye to Sister Kham and met my new companion Sister Ballif who is super great! She is from California and we have a lot in common. It was fun to go to to the mission office and see everyone else who was transferring, including some people from BYU and people from the MTC.  So for those of you who don't speak Thai, บางนา is Bangna, the name of my new area! It is right by Bangkok and totally different than Chiang Mai. It is loud, fast paced, and busy. People are way less likely to talk to you if you say hi to them on the street. But I love it her...

Week 15: Transfers

3. Baptism!! Hey I don't have a lot of time this week because... I am getting transferred! I am going to Bangna, which is near Bangkok! That is pretty far from Chiang Mai. I really love Chiang Mai so it is hard to leave but I am grateful for the people and the things I learned here. Today we went shopping and I packed and said goodbye to people and ate some great food. I had to say goodbye to my favorite cocoa yen lady which was sad :( here are some highlights from the week... -Noi and F got baptized this week! There 2 kids got baptized 2 weeks ago and it is amazing to see their whole family change and become better through accepting the teachings of Jesus Christ. They are so amazing - we taught them about fasting and they said they learned about fasting from their kids and they had already fasted and they knew the church was true. They have seen the blessings of following the commandments as they stopped working on Sunday , stopped drinking coffee, etc. They are amazing...

Week 14: Happy New Year!

Image
1. Elephants Happy New Year everyone! Great week in Thailand as usual. Here are some highlights: - Having our smartphones is such a miracle! It really helps us to be able to pull up talks and scriptures and videos when we feel inspired to in lessons.  -We have 4 more people scheduled to get baptized this week! The Lord is preparing people to accept His message here in Chiang Mai so it makes it easy for us missionaries to go out and teach. Haha not that easy though - we still work really hard and I am always exhausted! Two of the people getting baptized this week are the parents of two people who got baptized a few weeks ago. It is amazing to see all of the ways this family has changed and grown closer to Jesus Christ! As they have followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, they have seen miracles in their lives and have found greater fulfillment. I will email more next week about the people we are teaching! - Went and rode elephants today! It was fun. El...
